Photocopy of a typed transcription of the list of orphans in the Iowa Soldiers' Orphans' Home in Davenport, Iowa "up to the 1st of Jany 1867" as reported by Major M. B. Cochran, Superintendent of the Home, to Captain J. W. Pearman (serving as Assistant Quarter Master of the United States Volunteers in Davenport) as part of his effort to compile a list of Iowa Civil War dead. Also included is a list of orphans who died at the Home and were buried in Oakdale Cemetery, as well as a letter from Cochran to Pearman dated December 25th, 1866, and Pearman's remarks about his subsequent visit to the Home.
