Delighted when the Georgia Antiquarian Book Society chooses Catalpa Springs for its annual fair, septuagenarian librarian Cleo Watkins investigates the murder of a con artist who had stolen a prized book from Cleo's cousin.
To the delight of septuagenarian librarian Cleo Watkins, the Georgia Antiquarian Book Society has brought its annual fair to Catalpa Springs in honor of Cleo's gentleman friend, respected antiquarian bookseller and restorer, Henry Lafayette. When a flirtatious book scout makes the rounds, charming ladies of a certain age out of prized books, one of the conned is Cleo's cousin, Dot. She relinquished a signed first edition of Gone With the Wind. With no proof the scout took it-- and the scout is found dead the very next morning, Dot's freedom is on the line. Even worse, the body was found behind Henry's shop, and the murder weapon was identified as Henry's bookbinding hammer. It's up to Cleo to book the real killer. -- adapted from jacket
